Mixed Media Animation

Making the digital physical.. I’ve seen a few of these mixed media animations before and I just had to try! I wanted to see how physically interacting with the frames could change the look and feeling of an animation. One thing I found interesting was how this forced me to let go of any perfectionism as once I committed to cutting and scribbling over the frame there was no pressing ctrl z to undo. This encouraged me to lean into the handmade quality. At the same time, the limited frames and commitment meant I got a bit carried away with thinking of different hairstyles for each frame and kind of ignored the continuity of the doodles but the core image helped to stabilise the concept of motion over time.
